TRAVEL PIVOTS · SERIES FIVE RECAP · SERIES SIX INTEREST NOW OPEN

The future of the luxury travel ecosystem won’t be shaped from a stage.

Travel Pivots brings the people closest to luxury travel’s hardest business challenges around one table, advisors, suppliers, operators, and decision-makers with the experience and influence to do something about them.

No speeches. No selling. No rehearsed answers. Just the candor required to understand what is not working and the collective intelligence to begin changing it.

WHY TRAVEL PIVOTS

The question has changed. So has the room.

Travel Pivots began when extraordinary circumstances forced the luxury travel industry to rethink how it worked.

Five series later, the disruption is different.

The industry is growing, but many of the systems underneath it are straining. Advisor economics, supplier expectations, program complexity, disruption, credit cards, members-only programs, technology, distribution, client behavior and the definition of professional value are changing at the same time.

Most of those challenges cannot be solved by one side of the industry alone.

That is why the room has changed.

FROM THE FOUNDER

“Travel Pivots was built on trust. From the beginning, the value came from creating a room where advisors and suppliers felt comfortable speaking honestly and listening to one another. Series Five showed what becomes possible when that trust is paired with stronger structure and a commitment to carry the work forward. MODIV is helping Travel Pivots grow into that next chapter while protecting what made the room special in the first place.”

Travel Pivots is not another industry conference.

It is not a stage for prepared answers.
It is not a marketplace or supplier showcase.
And it is not a room where difficult issues are softened because the people involved do business together.

It is a working room.

WHO IS IN THE ROOM

A seat is earned by what you bring to the table.

Participants are selected for their proximity to the issues, depth of experience, ability to influence change, willingness to challenge assumptions, willingness to listen, and willingness to contribute rather than promote.

ADVISORS

The ones closest to the client

Experienced independent advisors and agency leaders managing complex travel, high-value clients, and the constant tension between growth and high-touch service.

SUPPLIERS

The ones working directly with advisors

Commercial leaders representing the breadth of the luxury travel ecosystem (hotels, cruise, DMCs, transportation, air, etc.) who work directly with advisors and see where programs, communication, and mutual expectations either create momentum or break down.
WHAT SHAPED THE AGENDA

The room began with what participants were already experiencing.

Every Travel Pivots participant contributes to the intelligence that shapes the conversation. Also, MODIV’s neutral, cross-ecosystem research identifies where perspectives align, where they diverge, and where the system is creating friction.

Those findings become the starting point for the work.

Findings were shared back with the room throughout the two days.

The system was built to help advisors and suppliers work better together. It is now one of the primary reasons they cannot.

Suppliers say advisors are not using the system.

80%

of suppliers say advisors are not using the programs built for them
Advisors say the system is too complex to navigate.

89%

of advisors agree ‘the many booking channels with different rates, perks, and promotions are the biggest challenge in the ecosystem.

HOW THE ROOM WORKS

Organized around shared problems, not a stage.

Series Five was designed around shared industry tensions rather than a sequence of presentations. Facilitated sessions brought advisor and supplier perspectives into the same conversation, challenged assumptions, and moved the room toward practical working outputs.

Our principles:

Candor over comfort Specificity over generality System over individual Both sides, not one Application over conversation
INSIDE SERIES FIVE

Conversation is temporary. The work should compound.

Series Five moved beyond discussion into five draft frameworks addressing the tensions participants identified as most consequential. None is being presented as a finished industry standard. Each is a working structure shaped by the people closest to the issue.

The Reciprocity Gap

An honest assessment across the foundational elements of ‘partnerships’.  From the health of relationships, the commercial systems that enable them, and what reciprocity means as a two-way street.  We rebuild what partnership really means for today and tomorrow.

The Program Problem

Too many programs, added complexity.  A detailed view into the world of how supplier preferred programs need to evolve.

The Quality Divide

How the industry defines, recognizes, and supports professional luxury advisor quality.

AI and the Right Line

Where technology should increase capability, and where human judgment remains essential.

The Geopolitical Reality

How the ecosystem can better prepare for and respond to changing traveler and operational risk.

92% of participants agreed that the Travel Pivots Series Five discussion was “practical for today, real for tomorrow.”

SERIES SIX

A seat in the room comes with a role in the work.

Series Six remains invitation-only.

Seats are not allocated by company size, title, or sponsorship. Participants are selected for the perspective they bring, their proximity to the issues being examined, their willingness to engage candidly, and their ability to help move the work forward.

Attendance is not the objective. Contribution is.
